Logger
This section of MG Flasher allows you to log real time data and plot them into graphs for troubleshooting and optimizing. Logger is additional function available in MG Flasher. You can get Logger as additional product once Flashing license is already activated.
Usage
Please connect your car to the MG Flasher using Connect button.
After the successful connection press Open Car button.
You should see the page with available Logger button.
Logger access is possible anytime while rolling, or driving. NEW - since v423
Creating a Log
The log should consist of a full acceleration drive at WOT (wide open throttle) across a large rpm range in a gear that is closely matching the engines output shaft rotational speed. To do this:
(Optional) It is recommended to attach your phone to the window or similar location using a holder for easy access to start/stop logging if need be.
Align the car on a long straight path.
Put the vehicle in Sport+ mode, with the shifter on the left (you will need to manually shift).
Slowly drive the vehicle until you reach 4th gear just under 2000 rpm and stabilize your speed.
Press start button 2-3 seconds before WOT (wide open throttle) to begin logging. You can start logging early and end well after the pull to ensure the full acceleration period is recorded. Optionally, press Auto button to enable automatic logging.
Enter full acceleration with WOT (wide open throttle) from 2000 rpm up until 6200-6800 rpm (if possible).
Press stop button to end log. When Auto enabled, logger will stop recording and resume when pedal is pressed WOT again.
Repeat the process in 3rd gear at 2000 rpm with a manual shift to 4th gear at 6000 rpm or higher.
This should give you two logs, 4th gear WOT and 3rd-4th gear WOT with shifting.
Automatic logging, as opposed to manually starting/stopping the logging session, is up to your preference. Logging is typically used to see how a vehicle is performing or to find problems with mechanics/software.
Features
Auto logging function – when you press “Auto ON” logger will automatically start logging while you press the accelerator pedal rapidly and stop logging when the pedal is released for longer than 2 seconds.
Adjusting the measured parameters can be done in Log parameters page.
Adjusting the displayed gauges can be done in the Display config page. Options Include:
Which Gauges are visible
Type of Gauge
Size of Gauge
Scale Ratio of Gauge
Auto Fitting to Gauge Dashboard
Colors of the Gauges NEW
Allows to log MASTER and SLAVE ECU module if dual ECUs are present in the car.
Exporting created files to one of our destinations: MG Flasher Logs Cloud or Spoolstreet.
Dynamic Gauge Dashboard that allows for moving, resizing and changing the Gauge Type.
Single measurement time decreased up to 2x times in comparison to our previous logger solution.
The Logger has separate configurations for measured parameters and displayed parameters in the UI. You can control the behaviors by pressing the Context Options button and choosing from options: Go to logged parameters and Go to display settings.
Adding a new measured parameter in Log Parameters will not add this parameter to the Gauge Dashboard automatically. After adding the measured parameter you must also setup the visibility in Display config too if you want to observe them in the dashboard.
Logger units configuration is applied for both configs immediately.
Pages
Logger main page
The Gauges are shown here on the main page, our many display configuration settings allow for unlimited customization of the interface. The simplest way to adjust a given gauge is to touch & hold selected item to move it to another place once the dashboard have been unlocked.
In top right corner of the app there is a Context Options button where there you can find some useful quick actions options to manipulate the logged parameter, display & UI adjustment.
By double-clicking a gauge you are able to choose one of the following option:
Edit - open the edit page to change the size, gauge type and visibility.
Replace - replace the given gauge with another one
Remove - remove the gauge from dashboard
Scale up - increase the size of the gauge
Scale down - decrease the size of the gauge
Scale to default - restore original size of the gauge
In the bottom part of the page there are 2 buttons :
START/STOP - allows you to log currently measured parameters from car to the file.
LOGS - manage the currently saved logger files
In the top part of the page:
Context Options - control the logged & displayed parameters by selecting one of the following option
Unlock/Lock manual gauge adjustment - allows to move the gauges by finger
Auto adjust the gauges - automatically gauge adjustment to fill all available space
Enable/Disable auto log to file - controls behavior which activates the feature to automatically start the file logging once the car’s pedal is pressed to the floor!
Go to parameters settings - configure the logged parameters from ECU. It also contains some development options together with uploading custom logger param definitions which is available only for specific user roles
Go to units settings - controls logged & displayed units for given parameters group
Go to display settings - controls the visible gauges in the dashboard and its colors
Manages the parameters which should be read from the car. The list of parameters can be filtered by typing anything into the search bar. Tabs allow control of MASTER and SLAVE modules separately. Track car location enables adding GPS coordinates of the car to the log file NEW .
Preferences tab contains an option to log & present parameters with user friendly name or factory technical name.
Contains the list of parameters which are able to be displayed in the dashboard based on logger parameters defined enabled in Logger Parameters page. Each item in list is configurable in two ways. Shorter path allows you to click on the badges to change the gauge type or visibility immediately. The second path required to click on given gauge item in list which will navigate to Gauge Item page where you can edit more fields: Visibility, Aspect Ratio, Height, Width, Gauge Type. By switching to the colors tab you can select one of the three available colors.
Once you finish the configuration you can adjust the visible items using one of the supported algorithm by clicking the MISC button:
Adjust to grid - Takes first 8 items and align them to the precisly located positions.
Sample user scenarios
You are able to change the visible gauges using several ways. If currently visible gauge needs to be deleted all you need to do is double-click the conrete item and select the Remove option.
You can achieve the same effect by clicking the Edit option and unchecking the Visible setting.
Logger Display page provides a way to manage all currently possible to present measurements. By clicking the badge item on each item you can change the visisiblity of the item. Also the MISC button provides useful methods to change visibiblity for all items together with auto adjustment when you notice some blank holes in dashboard after your changes.
Please click the Context Options button and select Unlock manual gauge adjustment. Then hold & move visible gauge to the desired place. Finally double click on gauge and select the Scale up option to make it bigger.
Please press the Logs button. Select the files to export. In MISC menu select SHARE button. In next dialog you are able to choose one of possible export option.
Supported options:
Destination | Description |

Spoolstreet | Exports the file to Spoolstreet service. In order to assign the file with your user account please go to SETTINGS page to fill API Key. |
Measured parameter can be visualized using one of our supported gauge type:
Circular view - presents current value using number and position of the needle
Rectangle view - presents current value using position and corresponding progress bar
To change the gauge type you can use one of the following option:
Double touch on the selected gauge and select EDIT option. The current page allows you to change the gauge type.
Go to Logger Display settings and click the MISC button to change the gauge type for all items simultaneously
